My analysis of the economic impact of the reconstruction of the I-71/I-670 interchange in downtown Columbus was released today. This $200 million project will increase MSA output (gross domestic product) by $352.6 million and household and business earnings by $110.1 million over the three-year construction period. It will create or sustain an average of nearly 1,000 jobs over that period.
The direct and indirect economic activity will generate income, sales, property, and commercial activity taxes. State taxes will increase by $5.3 million; local government and school taxes will increase by $23.8 million.
